在希臘聖島居住第三年，

疫情關係，今年格外安靜，

沒有工作，那就去旅行吧！

我用一個月搭船旅遊了希臘12個小島，

在無人海灘星空下過夜7個晚上

KASOS 卡索斯島

Kasos is the southernmost island of the Dodecanese complex, located between Karpathos and Crete. It is a small rocky island with a surface area of about 66km² and a population of 990 inhabitants. The island is not yet saturated with tourists, and keeps its traditional way of life. Many historical monuments, churches and monasteries are spread around the island revealing its route in history.

The port and capital of Fry (pronounced “free”)  is the capital and main port of the island. The settlement was built in 1840, and has well preserved mansions, two-storey houses of traditional architecture and stone buildings. It offers the majority of amenities found on the island and features the small picturesque harbor of Bouka,  and also the landmark church of Agios Spyridon. All these create an idyllic picture. 

The island enchants visitors with its natural beauties. Rocky landscapes, traditional settlements, lacy shores and deep blue waters compose the ideal setting for peaceful and quiet vacations.

Poli: This is the old capital of Kasos and it is situated 2km away from the current one. The settlement is built amphitheatrically on a hill and has a panoramic view to Fry, Agia Marina and Panagia. The village is lovely and is definitely worth a visit. Poli is also an Archaeological site, an Acropolis and an Ancient city.

Kasos is one of the most unspoiled Greek islands; it seems forgotten in time, synonymous with tradition and ideal for peaceful vacations. The island’s rugged landscape is interrupted by a selection of beautiful beaches and a handful of traditional settlements.

Agia Marina is the largest settlement on Kasos, with great sunset views and several districts that feature mansions, windmills and churches.

Caves of Ellinokamara and Stilokamara (Selai)

Situated at the area of Agia Marina, the cave of Ellinokamara is the island’s prime archaeological site. It dates back to the Paleolithic era and features a fortified wall and many important findings that came to light. Presumably it used to be a place of worship, while later on it became a refuge for the islanders. 

In 2019, archaeologists discovered five shipwrecks dating from several different historical periods. Scientists have also found evidence that points towards an ancient port facility.

In January 2021, marine archeologists revealed four shipwrecks, dating back to Greek, Roman and Byzantine eras. One of the wrecks was 2,000-year-old Roman ship with an amphora. Archaeologists also found iron cannons, pottery, some disorderly objects
